“You can’t know where you’re going, unless you know where you have been.”
I’ve been away for a while. Life intrudes sometimes and priorities must change, but through it all we strive to bring all things into balance.
I found this old photo of myself the other day, setting up roadside along an inlet in Acadia National Park. It was taken by my friend Brett when he and I made several photo excursions in the mid nineties. Looking at my eyes I see the endless possibilities of the world around me. Now twenty-five years later, I can look back at the body of work I was fortunate enough to create with that camera and feel that I have kept a kind of promise to my former self.
It’s good to look back, to stay in touch with the dreams of our younger selves. No matter how much we try we all change and need to be reminded of where we started. Success is a long and narrow road on a journey that never ends. After a slight detour on that journey, I’m happy to announce that I have found that road again.
