I have stood at the foot of
Half Dome, and crouched over a lily pad in the rain; my
inspiration was the same. The scale of the subject was
irrelevant. For a few brief moments the beauty of each was
revealed, and I was fortunate enough to be there.
For me, the joy of
photography is in capturing a sublime moment in nature when
light and subject combine to reveal something extraordinary.
The reward is being able to share that moment with others.
My wish is that people will experience a sense of place
through my photographs, like they have immersed themselves
deeply in an environment and had an original, memorable
moment of their own.
I hope that in some
small way my work can inspire others to get out and
experience nature firsthand. It renews the spirit to visit
quiet places from time to time, and reminds us of how
important it is to protect the land which inspires and
sustains us.
